The Varieties we crossed

Shimura Grape Research Institute has developed over 30 varieties of grapes.

We have created many different grape varieties, both for
eating and for winemaking, and we continue to create new
varieties even now. We will introduce some of the currently
popular grape varieties.

Developed varieties

Black shine mascut ‘Fuji no Kagayaki’

Mother: Shine Muscat
Father: Wink


Diploid European variety
Ripening period: Early to mid-September
Fruit: Very large (25g to 30g with gibberellin treatment)

Characteristics
A variety with very large purple-black fruit. Coloring is easy in areas with large temperature differences and at high altitudes.
The sugar content is very high at 24 to 25 degrees, with a maximum of 30 degrees recorded.
It has a unique rich sweetness and is suitable for storage and aging.

Red Shine Muscat ‘Miwahime’

Mother: Wink
Father: Shine Muscat


Diploid European variety
Ripening period: Early to mid-September
Fruit size: Large 20-30g

Characteristics
A red variety that colors easily.
It has almost the same characteristics as Fuji no Kagayaki, and although it has a very high sugar content, it is also a variety that is characterized by a refreshing sweetness. It
has high disease resistance and does not crack.

The World’s largest grape ‘Yoho’

Mother: Tenzan
Father: Shine Muscat

Ripening period: Early September to mid-September
Fruit: Extra large 25-50g

◯Characteristics
A yellow-green variety that turns golden when fully ripe.
Like its parent Tenzan, it has very large fruit, and like Shine Muscat, it has a high sugar content of about 20 degrees, but the aftertaste is very refreshing and the taste is excellent.
It has been reported that care should be taken with fruit cracking for 2-3 years after the first fruit is produced, but it has high disease resistance.
